"Tried to be wise and in love without blame. Negativity grew and w/ it the games. Stuck w/ these answers i needed to move. Dawn ignited a passionate swoon. I look into your eyes, then you turn away. I laid in the sunken, sullen fresh snow. Decembers first wish is that you would go. You asked for a solace, i did not obey. Weak in the heart, as my knees gave away. I look into your eyes, then you turn away. Lost in your reflection i needed more time. The love i thought was yours, i knew it wasn't mine."

Haunted Days 05:17
"What can I say to win your love back? I've repeated these psalms but your heart remains black. Can I change anything with all that I lack? Or repeat this lost fate with a heart bruised and cracked. Well I tried and tried to convince you I could change But you look at me as if I'm deranged. You say what once was will never remain. Past is silence, a forgotten play. Your remarkable light has begun to wane. Whenever it shines I think of rain. I only have myself to blame. You Haunt My Days. To let you go.. so cold in your words. Silence so loud I can never disturb. Too many memories left to unfurl. Till there's nothing left I can never cure. Your remarkable light has begun to wane. Whenever it shines I think of rain. I only have myself to blame. You Haunt My Days."

Listened to the words you'd say That painted sadness in these eyes. Heard them once all before Never needed to reply. Spoke of love so afraid To nestle into a warm embrace. Struggled toward our own charade Looking for a quick escape. There we stood surrounded by feathers The beat of our hearts let go to new weather. Carried security only to far Left w/ the past and made a new start. Stumbled toward each others lies Knowing the wrongs won't make it right. Eyes sharpen to end the fight Soon forget you, if just overnight. All too soon 3 words at noon Broke a heart and carried a tune. What we said and what we did Is now in the Ballad Of A Winter Hymn.
4.
"You peel glades of grass with the tips of your toes Then tickle them lightly to the end of your nose. Everyone watches your innocent show... Of Ecstatic Highs to Euphoric Lows. The feeling builds and your legs go weak. Words get heavy, so hard to speak. Thoughts they stiffen as your mood turns bleak. Hear my voice, feel me speak. What will you do when the sky turns grey? Sit in silence and hope for rain? Or wish it all away? Brighter days your love light shows. Filled with wonder, that only you know. Enlightens a heart shot from cupid's bow. The more you give, the more I grow. What will you do when the sky turns grey? Sit in silence and hope for rain? Or wish it all away? So many knots in the threads of our lives Unsure to cave or survive the strife."

"What started off with deepest devotion Eroded so slow in constant commotion. Together is rapturous emotion... Up and down we'd go. I'll reminisce of us together When the dust settles to what we'd surrendered. I offered all since that Sept... Now your nothing but an ember. The end came and there was never to be more. When my body's left empty on the shoe Will you be happier than before? You say I tore your year to ruins Time and again you withdrew. Endlessly saying this heart is askew. Does it matter if that's true? The end came and there was never to be more. When my body's left empty on the shoe Will you be happier than before? '16 Bittersweet Shannanigans. If I could I would start it all over again. '16 Bittersweet Shannanigans. My love for you will never ever end...

Fall burst forth in hysterical woe. Felt the unnease slip down to my toes. Ideals struggle, mouth running dry. I hope this malaise will softly subside. September resides to long impressions. Harmonies glide in honeyed remembrance. Caught a deep breath between a sigh. Make For The Wind with euphoric strides. I'll give you my word As soon as it's found The curtain closed at dawn. Cover your face with your auburnt hair. Eyes transfixed in a dead doll's stare. Move through time so graceful and true. Hold inside a poem so blue. I'll give you my word As soon as it's found The curtain closed at dawn's behest.

"A misbegotten forgotten poet Who drank the wine yet never showed it. A tempted regretful soul, i never knew ya. Sit right down before you slip. At first glance could be the light But in your fright you sought the night. Wish for all the nightmares to amuse ya. Always black and never white. Wonder why i say goodbye To every word you speak so kind... What truth could i do tell? When the ties will always unwind. The song is broken, the words are cold. Cursed tales so very old. Fresh in mind for you to abuse em. Now your gone your hand you fold. Truth is torn left and worn Always felt yet never sworn. Softness in your heart hardens through ya. Pretend to bare an honest care. Wonder why i say goodbye To every word you speak so kind... What truth could i do tell? When the ties will always unwind. All the hopes i wish that we had shared Lay there naked hopeless and bare"

"Supposing we knew it would end this way. Left in your eyes when i wanted to stay. Nights of compassion, days w/ mistakes. You lightened the dark, then turned away. We carried our sighs in soft silhouettes. Lost in the shadows we'd pirouette. I'll disappear when it's time to forget. The honesty shown to the bitter regret. Your Crazy Sorrows spoke too soon. Spoke of a promise that never came true. Stared at the truth that you'd never be there. To fend off the ghosts from the dares. Heal the scars and temper the wares. Of a broken heart too bare. Held no allusion to what could have been. Your 13th dream was shaded in green. Words danced when time was serene. Now in the heart of a memory."
10.
"When that dark feeling builds and your legs go weak. Words flow so slow can't hardly speak. Confidence disappears through a shallow creek. It's a challenge every hour, every day of the week. It's a wonder how I've managed to believe Everything's ok just a heart on my sleeve. But I know it's wrong to be so naïve To attain a peace of mind if we still speak. Your blue eyes offered a blissful kiss But that was so long ago. Ease into anxiety when I miss The way we'd flow. We join together like wet grains of sand. Eye to eye, heart to heart, hand in hand. But we know the situation to be damned. One of us has to take a firm stand. Your blue eyes offered a blissful kiss But that was so long ago. Ease into anxiety when I miss The way we'd flow. No words need to spoken, our thoughts are left so open. We ventured in a dream, never wanting to be woken"

about

Nick Cave once said of the Love Song: "The love song must be born into the realm of the irrational, of the absurd, the distracted, the melancholic, the obsessive, the insane. For the love song is the noise of love itself and love is, of course, a form of madness."

This is a collection of my favourite songs in recorded form. Not favourite songs that ive written per se, more final outcome when the tracks we're completed in the studio. There are other tracks ive written which i still play live and know are better songs compositionally. But somewhere along the way the song and the recording process we're lost in translation. These songs didn't have said issue. These are my 10 favourites in no order. Enjoy!

This Retrospective is dedicated to my friends. Steve Savage, Jim Castillo, Brent Randall, Jason Ball, Craig Reid, Kent Eliuk and Scott Boumeister, Shawna Sormin and the Runaway Catholics crew, Shota Nakamura, Jen Hickey, Daniel Dell, Marshall Bureau, Sam Piper among many others. The compilation as a whole is $7 for download or $1 per song.

I hope you enjoy it. XO
